Henry sent me this update:
I was back in Galveston and had a chance to retake my August image, using some of the members' suggestions. I moved back a little farther to shoot looser, and from a higher angle. I then blurred and darkened the adjacent structures. |

The "Soft Sepia" preset has the minimum grain size setting, I increased it to simulate an older film. |

Amazingly three-dimensional. |

Removing the branches was worth the effort, simplifying and strengthening the composition: geology, flowing water, human appeal. And the lighting is perfect - does you camera have a joystick for moving the sun? |

As our agent in Detroit, do you have an estimate of the age of this Ford truck? |

Good composition and sharp capture from a moving boat. This simple image held my attention with contrasts: strong straight lines and curves, the gnarled texture of the dead branch and the aerodynamic smoothness of the bird. |

Without strong lines and shapes in this scene, texture and contrast are the only monochrome elements. I think reducing the contrast would weaken the artistic appeal of this image. |

Dramatic sky and reflections, nice and sharp. Did you try any shots from higher up? Looking forward to more "bird's eye" images. |

Your monochrome treatment emphasizes the wonderful carpentry work that holds my attention, the bright colors in the original are not nearly as interesting. Good work. |
