This is the longest dialogue I can remember in this Group. Challenging photo and constructive comments from all. |

I really like your choice of subject, less-than-perfect roses in a simple bottle - this image has the feeling of a Cezanne painting. And each of our colleague's suggestions improved the monochrome shading. |

I concur with the praise and minor changes from the others. |

Your addition is much more interesting than a camera bag. |

Good scene for IR. The asphalt adds tonal "weight" to the bottom of the image, balancing the unsettling IR tones. But I react to the bright white lines as confusing, not leading anywhere. |

Removing color brings out the strong lines and patterns, but the scene lacks a visual focal point. Something - camera bag? - at one end of the bench would break the symmetry and give our eyes a place to stop. |

Great classroom demonstration, Professor. Part of monochrome's appeal is freedom from our brains' prejudice for "natural" colors. |

With your guidance I have added some shading adjustments to the master file - a clear improvement. |

Amazingly good capture in these circumstances. My first impression of this BW image was eye contact with a series of interesting individuals. In the color version my eyes were drawn to the bright clothes - it has less impact. |
