The dark body stands out from the bright background, the transparent wings blend in. In this version I tried for a similar but softer version of this tonal separation for the wings: in LR increased the global exposure by +0.35 then brushed gradually increasing negative exposure into the wings to bring them out. |

I first considered this "Here She Comes" crop, but it cuts off the long tail of spray which shows her speed. Elongating the crop makes the rider smaller, reducing the visual weight of the rim lighting that had me choose this shot from the burst. So I settled on this "There She Goes" version. |

If cropping is allowed, you could get rid of the foreground plant stalk. |

For a viewer who has never been there, Jim H's contrast changes are a successful improvement to the photo. But they create a different atmosphere from your version. Art is subjective - your photo, your choice. |

Hummingbirds and insects will go for the pollen and nectar on the other side, but I appreciate seeing the intricate architecture of this unfolding structure. Mono is the right treatment to emphasize the shapes, lines, and textures. If you ever publish a book of your flower pictures I'll buy one. |

The smooth lacquer layer on a polished brass instrument spreads the unreflected light over the surface, causing even the shaded portions of the subject to glow. The black hats and cuffs anchor the full tonal range. Your perspective and camera settings include the parade scene in this close up of a single member. Great Photo! |
