I cropped to show the location and scale of the nest. |

Sharon's crop puts more emphasis the two main subjects. A couple steps to the left could have produced a shot with the two penguins watching a lone human form, a simpler scene to take in. |

Two strong portraits from distant lands on our page this month. Monochrome is the right treatment here, the bright red necklace and blue sweater pull our eyes away from her face in the color version. And I like Tom's crop. |

Getting rid of strong vertical tree trunks in the upper right and the weight of the dark area in the lower right brings my focus immediately to the couple under the sunlit tree. Tom's crop really helps this photo. |

We are accustomed to your creative image processing, but how did you get such a sharp image in dim light with a cell phone? Hands of stone? |

Congratulations for recognizing the potential in this scene, I would have just glanced and walked past. In addition to shapes and textures, the very dark windows anchor a good tonal range. All the elements of a strong monochrome image put together well. |

In addition to the lens I gained increased appreciation of wildlife photographers who deal with these conditions. Very frustrating to have no control over subject, lighting, perspective - patience is an essential tool that can't be purchased at a camera store. |

Based on the images of people you have shared, you have a photography skill that is hard to teach: quickly establishing trust with a stranger. |
