I think the large lily pads detract from the perfectly lit, sharply focused ripple pattern - the interesting background you worked for and captured. My crude attempt at cropping and cloning is attached. |

The diagonal stairs work as an anchor point for me in this interesting collection of horizontal and vertical rectangles. Nice work with tonal range and contrast, hard midday sunlight can produce good monochrome photos. |

Fascinating detail rewards the effort you put into this image. Color would have diverted attention from the different levels of structure.
The vertical version certainly has a different feel, balanced and formal - it would get a higher grade in an art class. But I think bees would would be attracted more by your original. |
