Your picture did not get uploaded, so I tried your duplicate/multiply suggestion. Instead of masking the center I reduced the opacity to 50 percent, adding some darkening to the petals. I prefer this version to my first, thanks for the help |

High-contrast infrared was good choice for this dramatic scene. This looks like a glacier flowing into the sea, where is it?
I prefer the original capture to the cropped version, which cuts out parts of the clouds. Either way, a large print would look beautiful on a wall.

This photo made me stop and stare, then call others in to look at it. Don't worry about the sky. The important elements are the amazing trees, more contrast in the sky would have obscured the fine structure in their branches. The foreground boy and tire provide strong darks to balance the high key overall tone, and show familiar human behavior in the presence of these science fiction movie trees. |

Another good lesson from Coach Pickering: If the details don't contribute, simplify to strong lines and shapes. Your light blue tone works well in this picture. |
