As with your whale photo last month, you have captured and preserved a dramatic moment to enjoy over and over again. |

Good choice of replacement sky, the explosion of light is the perfect background for a mammoth stone horse emerging from the sea. Lots of drama in this scene.

Been there twice in the summer, your photo makes me want to go again in the fall. In contrast to Sharron, I feel you have gone a little too far in sharpening the detail in the mountains. They are much father away than the foreground river, brush, and trees. The mountains' softness in originals 1 and 2 conveys depth in the scene, crisp they look nearer and smaller. |

Without the tell-tale colors that my brain would quickly identify as "just another tulip" your treatment invites my eyes to explore the multiple shapes and textures in these petals. Really sharp focus captures the micro-level sparkle that enlivens the soft tones. I enjoyed studying this photo. |

Very different moods in the two treatments. With color, the green vegetation and blue patch of sky soften the rugged mountains and show that life can exist here. In you high contrast BW image the dramatic storm clouds and looming dark mountains proclaim that this is a dangerous place. |
