Another amazing mask - the wire antenna, the hood ornaments, .....!
An alternative to Jim H's suggested contrast increase would be to make this old car more ghostly by removing the dark shadows under it. |

Strong image from a simple subject - a good reminder of the creative possibilities close to home. It may be different in a high-resolution print, but in the 8-bit jpegs we share there is better shadow definition at the right edge in Jim H's crop. |

Symmetry, rhythmic patterns, leading lines, full range of tones and textures - a classic monochrome photo. I think your tonal contrast matches the texture contrast among iron girders, wood support beams, leafy trees, and soft clouds. |

I prefer your clone to the crop, the boat isn't about to hit the frame. |

With the old camera, darkening the sky brings in a lot of noise. I stopped where the noise would be noticeable in a print. |

Your crop really strengthens this photo. In the original the hawk appears to be looking at something outside the frame, in the final it is staring at the viewer. I agree with Jim H that the contrast enhancing has gone too far. In nature the mottled feather pattern is camouflage, it should blend in with the background not stand out. With its sharply focused beak and eye every viewer will immediately recognize the hawk. The shadowless soft light lets all the feather detail and textures show without white brights and black darks. |
