Like Tom, I think you did a good job on keeping the skin texture human. My suggestion is to darken the tone of her skin to separate her face from the white blouse. Starting in Lightroom's BW conversion of your original with its Auto color-tone settings, I adjusted the orange slider slightly to achieve the skin tone in the accompanying image. (And I set the Clarity slider to -9 to mimic your treatment of skin texture.) |

I agree with Tom in preferring the color version. The glowing luminance of the bird of the bird you achieved by darkening the sky can be duplicated in color by lowering the blue slider in LR's HSL panel. Leaving in the tiny landing target branch shows the bird's precision flying skills. |

Good composition. The strong lines direct our eyes around the photo. The white pilings break up the black mass of the hillside. And they show us the size of the waves that can occur, adding to the threatening mood from the dark clouds. |

Cleaner image, but I like seeing the human pilots. Ten years from now all military aircraft may be drones. |

Portrait shooting tips always tell us to concentrate on the eyes. You got all 8 in sharp focus and several with multiple catchlights. Your wife must be really impressed. |
