Hi Jim, thanks for your comments. I have been shooting macro and closeup flowers for about 8 years. I have studied different (flower) photographers' styles. Some like their images to be crisp and sharp from corner to corner, shooting at f/22 or above or photo stacking. While others shoot for a sliver of focus on a petal or center of the bud. I have chosen my style to be focused in the center with a softer fall off. To me, flowers are delicate and I want to see them that way with some minor exceptions. |

Thanks so much, Piers, for your comments. I think I met my goal on this flower as my style is the have a bit of sharpness that gradually moves towards a softer look. Flowers are delicate and I want to view them that way. |

Thank you so much, Shirley. Although the leaves may look close to the flower, this dahlia actually had long stems which made it quite easy to give the leaves just a hint of focus. The green background in from my grass. Always a great thing when Mother Nature cooperates! |

Nice image, Jim, of lines and color variations. I agree with Shirley in that closest stem is somewhat distracting as it is out of focus. Maybe next time try a bit of focus stacking if your style is to have everything in focus. |

Your creativity, Martin, never disappoints! The three images you chose for the composite create a wonderful final image that really causes one to pause. Nicely done! |

Great abstract, Shirley! I love the bright colors. Catching all the moving lights at a fair can be mind boggling. Nicely done! |

Great capture, Piers, of these two beautiful cats! I think you did justice to the edits but I would darken down the foreground just a bit so that there's some separation between the grasses and the lions paws. Love the tongue swap and how you were able to make visible with your edits! Very nicely done. |
