Thanks, Shirley, for your inspiration. I did crop it as suggested by Martin, but will go back and play with it some more. I enjoyed the river cruise but I was not fond of the air travel to and from. I would love to do the Norway to England cruise but with all the unrest I plan on staying closer to home for now. |

I'll bet his punch is a mean as he looks! What a great image. The lighting is perfect and I like that you chose to have him fill the frame. Perfection in street photography! |

Welcome to the group, Stanley! Your image is so colorful and inviting. I can almost hear all the excitement going on. I love how you captured the group walking towards us, (the viewer) on somewhat of a diagonal. I am looking forward to seeing more of your photos and learning about some of the Chinese areas and traditions. |

Wow, Shirley, you captured an awesome sunrise! I love how the fog pulls my eye diagonally across the image. I agree with Stanley's suggestion regarding cropping some of the top. Lovely imageā¦a great wall hanger! |

Your image does look a lot like infrared. If you really like that look, you can get a camera converted to full spectrum and thereby use it for both infrared and normal shooting with attached filters. I like how the building structure looks in B&W but I'm not sure about the foliage. To my eye, it's almost too stark, especially around areas at the bottom. Maybe paint in some shadows to make the detail a bit more definable. Your editing skills always amaze me. |

Wow, Jim, what a wonderful portrait of an Iris! And my favorite colors together. The bokeh is lovely and at f/8, this Iris must have been somewhat isolated from the others, so good eye in being able to pick it out from the rest. Many times when you come upon flowers that generally grow together, i.e., Spring bulbs, poppies and the like, it's challenging to look for one that's isolated enough to give a nice, soft bokeh. As for Shirley's comment regarding too much top for the composition, I don't mine the top because you captured the light casing around the bud at the bottom, so to me, that lighter part at the bottom balances the top in equal parts. |
