Perfection! I love how you capture this egret with his wings spreed wide open and just lifting off. The backlighting is excellent in providing all the details in this birds wings. Very nice! |

This is a great image, Martin and has the magic number of birds. I like how you cropped it and brought the birds to the front of the image. My only thought would be to try and do something with that second bird's leg that must have been moving at the time of the shot. It's right there in the front and almost center of the image. Maybe try to remove it and see if that passes muster. Birds are known for standing on one leg and tucking the other one up to their chest. |

Hi Tor, I really like this image and the intent concentration on this man's face. However, I would not have cropped it so tightly. A bit more space on top and I would have left the feathers in the back. On the bottom, I would have left the entire buffalo's head. Great story with Native American and the US flag. |

At first glance of your image, instead of a crumpled piece of paper, I thought it was an old sheet. It looks more cottony to me than papery. As for seeing something in it, possibly a turtle with its head protruding out from the shell with its two front legs also extending. |

Nice image, Jim, and interesting information about how bourbon is aged. |

Thanks so much, Lori! I looked at those tiny pieces in the water, but decided to keep them as there were others on the leaf above to the right. I'll look at it again. |

Thank you, Melissa. I love the greens as well. No, I did not try the smart sharpen filter in PS. I chose to go the other way with the smudge tool in Topaz and I really like how it softened the greens. |

Lovely sunset! I like that you left the fence showing to give the lens ball a base. Not sure about the rain drops though. I think they are a bit distracting from an otherwise serene image. |

Hi Tom, when trying to achieve rim lighting, one must hide the subject from the light by using a slightly smaller outline of the subject made out of poster board or something similar and propped behind the subject. This will force the light to fall around the subject, thereby producing the rim lighting. Your second image on the red background looks as though you may have applied the red layer over top of the flower and then masked away some parts of the flower. Another way to have done this would be to have PS select the subject (the flower and the stem with leaves) and put that on a separate layer on top of the red layer.
Your aperture of f/4 gives just the right amount of focus to the bud with the focus dropping off around the base of the bud, which is my kind of flower photography. |
