Thanks, Jim, for your comments. Placing the leaf was a challenge to get it to stay in just the right spot. That part of the reason behind flipping the image. I liked this side of the leaf better, but it sat more stable in the other direction. As for the mirroring, that really was the point of the exercise. I saw someone else's similar setup and wondered whether or not I could get the image on the black background with the reflection. I thought it was fascinating and a good exercise in lighting. |

Thank you, Martin, for your comments. Good idea for a stroke line of the edge! |

Thanks so much for your comments, Shirley! I do agree with everyone's' comment regarding the yellow tone. Please see my response to Piers for an explanation. To answer your question regarding the actual color of the leaf, it is what you see in the original. The underside of the leaf was shaded as I only used window lighting. |

Thank you, Piers, for your comments. As everyone has commented on the yellow color, I went back and checked my editing. I didn't increase the color slider or the saturation, however, I did raise the shadows slightly & decreased the blacks which brought the yellow color out in the leaf. I agree, now that I'm looking at it again, I should have desaturated the yellow a bit. |

Martin, I think this is a great image. And that expression on her face is so intriguing and could not have been captured had she made eye contact with the camera. I love the green background as it warms up the entire image. I'm not a fan of her hair being that vivid as I find that detracting from her face as well as it seems to give off a red vibe to the top she is wearing. Overall her expression makes the image in my opinion. |

Great image, Terri! I love the rim lighting on the parrots. And you caught the interaction between the two at just the right moment. Very well done. |

Great image, Shirley! I love the blur you added to the background. My only suggestion would be to crop off the last horse and rider on the viewers' left. He doesn't add to the story and the green structure and white square distract from the rest of the image. Looks like it was a very exciting race! |

Palm fronds are so interesting. They come in so many shapes and sizes and one can literally get lost in all the folds. They have been recognized as a symbol of peace, victory, and eternal life. The way you captured them makes your image feel almost 3-D. However, the background is too busy and distracts from the fronds. I wonder whether it would be too difficult to use a different background. |

Nice photo, Jim! I love the warm colors and the reflection of the clouds. The lines in the sand leads me from the bottom of the image up through to the curve of the water, but then it leads me right out of the image. I wish there would have been something of interest to focus on in the upper right corner. Also, not sure if you cropped this image, but I find that sliver of land at the very top of the image causing tension. Perhaps, adding a bit of canvas would make that a softer transition. |
