Thanks, Shirley, I will take a look at using the dehaze slider. I probably don't try that enough as I try to use the black, white or contrast slider to accomplish the same. Yes, if you get a chance to make a trip to Cades Cove, you should go. So much to see in any of the 4 seasons! |

Thank you, Martin. I love your crop. It's amazing to me how we get so wrapped up in our own direction that we can't seem to see other possibilities. Thanks for pointing this out. As I said in my description, what caused me to stop and even make this photo was that bright peak so I'm glad you brought me back to it. |

Yes, I like the dodging and burning…I also like Martin's idea of adding the second barn. |

Wow, Martin, thanks so much for the history behind this site and sculpture. What a cool thing to come across in one's travels. You managed well to capture this image with a decent exposure inspite of the time of day. I like how you cropped out the tree on the right. I think I would clone out the 3 items on the horizon's left as well. One really gets the feel for how massive this sculpture is by its orientation to the Temple behind it. Very nice! |

Imagination Perfection! What a great capture and creativity to turn the building on its side. I love it! Your use of a linear filter to the bottom half of the image is perfect and makes one believe that being on its side was the original orientation. Not sure whether the small boat with a red sail would add to the image. I like the minimalist approach. If you do find that boat, I hope you post an updated version. Great job, Terri! |

Wow, Shirley, wonderful shot! I love how the wing and the tail feathers are splayed out. It appears to me as though there is a shadow, probably from its wing, running right across his eye. I wonder whether you could clone some of that out. As for the kind of bird, maybe a raven or a big crow. From what I see of vultures here in Florida, this birds head is too slender. Great catch at such a distance. |

I love old barns, Piers, and this one is really cool with all of its character. I find myself going back and forth between your original and edited version. I do like the black & white and love how the sky's pattern matches the boards of the barn. I like that you kept the tree in the upper left corner. I think I go back and forth between the images because I feel as though the edited one is to close-up. It looks as though there is a slight bank in front of the barn but in the b&w version, I'm not getting as much of a separation between the top of the bank and the barn as I feel is in the original. Hope that makes sense. I really like both images. I don't find the second barn interferring with the first. In fact, for me, it just speaks to a larger operation on this farm. |

Nice image, Jim! I love the soft colors and the ominous sky. Quick thinking on your part to add the beach shoes. A few things you might want to consider...first, the toes in the sand to the immediate top left of the shoes is distracting b/c it's hard to imagine how one could step so close to the shoes at that angle. The foot along side of the shoes works for me as it feels as though the left foot was removed first and stood on while the right was removed second. The other thing you may want to try is cloning out the shoes and moving them closer to the water. Then crop a good inch off the bottom. As it is, the sand and water are equal parts and the sky just a minor piece. It almost feels unbalanced to me. I wouldn't take away the sky because that's a meaningful part of the story. Just my thoughts. See what others think. Nice image. |

Thank you Ruth. I checked my focus point and it's on the bud. I think the lighting on the bud as opposed to the leaves may be why you think it is a softer focus. Thanks for your comments. |

Your practicing is working! I love the details of the pink zinnia...it's beautiful! Your background works well, however I would lower the highlights/whites on the flowers below the zinnia. In nature we can't always have the positions we would like so moving around the subject sometimes helps. It's a shame that the purple flowers aren't more straight or tilting the other direction in order to make for a clearer leading line to the zinnia. I just want to take that stem and shift it towards the zinnia's stem. That being said, your image might be stronger without those purple flowers. Very nice capture with complimentary colors. |

I had no idea that whiskey was filled into the barrels using a pump. I guess I assumed it was poured into the top and the lid sealed. I imagine the lighting wasn't the greatest as I've made photos in a winery and it's either very bright or dingy so I think you captured the exposure well. I like that your image has just enough detail to know what's going on. Next time, get a close-up of those nail heads on the band. They seem to be an insignia of some sort. Thanks for sharing the technique! |

Nice moody capture, Ruth. I love the shadows. The warm tone of the wood works great with the pumpkins. Your horizon line is tilted to the right a bit. You can fix that in LR or PS. Perhaps your camera on the tripod was not square to your setup. Happy Halloween! |

Very nice detail and symmetry! You didn't mention anything about post-processing so I'm wondering whether or not you used a reflector to lift the shadows in the center of the flowers. Nicely captured. |
