2 Sep 22 Reply Glad your place was spared! I wouldn't rush down here as there is a lot of cleanup to be done. They are asking the folks that stayed to not start driving around the area until a total assessment can be done. At any rate, I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Wow, what a trip you have planned! Safe travels and take lots of photos.

2 Sep 22 Comment Wow, Martin, this image is mesmerizing! I find myself wondering around through and across the rocks and back again. I agree with other's suggestions and just love your final edit. The long exposure really enhanced the sky and added to the overall image. Wonderful capture!

Just as an aside, I agree with Shirley that the ariel view looks like Diamond Head in Oahu!

2 Sep 22 Comment I agree with everyone else that the color version adds much more dimension to the image. I like Martin's edits as I feel the original was too flat and too dark. Your composition it great. I really like the image. Good luck with your competition. Sep 29th
2 Sep 22 Comment Wonderful creativity and great image, Shirley! I love the angle and perspective of the mushroom. Almost looks as though it's bidding us farewell! We've had a very wet summer here in FL and had mushrooms growing everywhere. I am always fascinated by them but afraid I'm not as creative as you. Great image! Sep 29th
2 Sep 22 Comment Beautiful Iris, Piers! The colors are so vibrant and your center focus is spot on. I prefer your background as the lighter the background becomes, the more distracting it becomes as well. If you wanted to experiment, you could select the flower and put on a separate layer and then blur the background layer. Or you could also try a mixer brush to blend the background into something less distracting. Very lovely image with lots of potential. Sep 29th
2 Sep 22 Comment Wow! I love the lines in this image. They lead right to the eyes as others have said and I feel as though I'm looking at a huge butterfly. I prefer the color version because, to me, it shows much more contrast and dimension. Nice capture, Jim. Sep 29th
2 Sep 22 Reply Thank you, Jim! That reflection on the table has gotten everyone's attention. I will have to try to duplicate it with some other composition. Hope you are not in Fort Myers right now! This hurricane was massive and it's not done with us yet. St Augustine is under water as Ian is making its way north up the east coast. Sep 29th
2 Sep 22 Reply A double thank you, Piers! Funny you would mention the petals, because I only added them on the last several shots as I think I felt they would tie the petals together. Glad you liked my image. Sep 29th
2 Sep 22 Reply Thanks so much, Jaqueline. I have a large window in my studio that is south facing. I use vertical blinds to direct the light where I need it. I tethered these shots onto my laptop so I could see exactly what I was going to get. I also used a reflector on camera right to bounce the light back onto the vase and therefore reflect onto the table. I really love playing with light but I don't profess to know as much about it as I would like. Glad you enjoyed my image. Sep 29th
2 Sep 22 Reply Thank you so much for both your comments and best wishes, Shirley. I liked the arrangement and was very happy with the lighting and the reflection of the vase on the table. I do see what Martin was referring to, and had I been cutting the flowers to arrange, I probably would have crowned them, but I was trying to work with what I had and make space in the original vase. I'm happy with it! Sep 29th
2 Sep 22 Reply Thanks Martin, for your comment. I see what you mean. I never gave that a thought when I was putting it together because I was trying to work with what was in the original vase, but I'll be sure to keep that in mind for next time. I printed this image and every time I look at it now, I see the crown you drew in red! Lol! Sep 29th
2 Sep 22 Reply Wow, 66 years! That's to be congratulated. Thanks so very much, Bev! Looking forward to many more. Sep 4th
