2 Jun 21 Reply Thank you, Martin! The light that morning just drew me right to those flowers. Jun 25th
2 Jun 21 Reply Jaqueline, thank you for the kind words. Although my other glads did bloom, none were as pretty as the red & white. Hopefully, next year they will be better! Jun 25th
2 Jun 21 Reply Thanks so much, Piers! Jun 25th
2 Jun 21 Reply Oh yes, much better! Jun 7th
2 Jun 21 Comment A beautiful transition. Shirley is correct...the digital darkroom can accomplish amazing things! Great image and thanks for the bit of history surrounding it. Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Comment Jaqueline, I love the action of the father throwing the young boy in the air. You captured the shot at just the right moment, on the boy's way down. As for the crop choice, I like the image that's showcased rather than the one marked original because there is more of the father showing and the image doesn't feel cutoff. As to the gravestones and pool image...it almost feels like mixed metaphors to me. Gravestones are generally quiet, somber places, while the swimming image is happy and carefree. IMO, the two don't mesh very well together. Hope that helps a bit from an outsider's point of view. Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Comment Beautiful capture, Hung! I believe this is a snowy egret with breeding plumage. I agree with Shirley. When shooting birds that are so close to their busy backgrounds, it helps to shoot as wide open as you can without loosing the details of the bird. Your capture is tack sharp. Great job! Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Comment Great composition, Piers. The clouds make for a great B&W. I love the sun rays on the right, my only suggestion would be to darken them a bit in the water area. Sun rays are generally brightest at their source and fade and dissipate a bit as they move further away. Great panorama subject! Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Comment First of all, Congrats Jim, on your submission of last month's photo. As for this shot, I agree with both Shirley and Martin's comments. I would definitely clone out that triangle of umbrella as there's not enough of it there and becomes a distracting artifact for me. I know what you mean about not being able to duplicate the colors that you saw that night. Sometimes when you actually get closer, you can't print it anyway without it becoming too much of a dynamic range. Great image! Jun 6th
2 Jun 21 Comment Personally, Shirley, I think I like the original color scheme better than the gray background. With a similar crop and a bit of cleanup in the top LH corner, I think the blue compliments the pink better and feels more natural to me. I know what you mean about that lens. It is extremely heavy!

2 Jun 21 Comment Thank you so much, Shirley. I entered this in our state's (F3C.org) tri-annual competition. Let's see if it makes the cut! Jun 6th
