It's always interesting taking a photo of other photographers as they work particularly when they don't know it. You caught the reflection of the couple and the "human light stand" in the buildings window allowing us to see them from "another side" so to speak. The couple looks slightly fuzzy to me, perhaps not the exact focus point? Nice catch of photographers at work. |

I like this photo Gloria, it's crisp, clear and detailed. The blue sky contrasts the red of his costume, the dirt on his glove as he pushes for the photo. The eyes are clearly seen, the shadow from the hat just below his eye brows but not hiding the eyes. Nice job. |

I love the colors in this photo and the dynamics of the street scene itself. I've never heard of tea boys before so that is an intriguing bit of information that makes for a great story in this picture. I wish the tea boy was as sharp as the water bottles but nevertheless the photo tells a great story. |

PS. This was taken from the High Line spur that juts out over the street. |

Gloria and Isaac, thank you for your comments, I tried several different cropping iterations on this picture, from just showing the street (no sides at all), to eliminating the signage. This one was what I thought was the best. Perhaps lowering the intensity of the white block of light would have been the way to go. |

This picture suggests to me that it is of the viewpoint of someone who sees the Eiffel Tower all the time (a long time jaded resident) and is no longer impressed with the vision. This individual instead sees the overall view with all its components and weights no one single item over the others. Unfortunately the very large and red bus is hard to miss and draws attention to it by its size and color. I think the photo would benefit from not having the bus in it but that would require either a re-shoot (difficult as it was 10 years ago) or a lot of photoshopping. Too much de-saturation (a word??) as in Isaac's version doesn't seem to make the bus less noticeable. Perhaps more red than that, I also think that the light post with two lamp heads on it distracts more than it adds. I do like the "old" feel of the picture and that the Eiffel does not get its' "due" in this photo. Just curious, was this scanned from a film/print? |

I love the warmth that this picture exudes, having just been in West Palm, I'm guessing the sidewalk is warm and the artist lying there is warm, concentrating not wanting to make a mistake as he is being observed by those walking by. Nice capture, a great story, good colors and intensity in the work. I am curious as to how the picture was taken in terms of the camera position, standing on a ladder or bench looking down? |
