Sad yet strong. The shadow in the foreground moving into a brighter background brings out the power of black and white. Leading lines compliment. A cloud (maybe) producing the shadow gives a peaceful and hopeful feeling. Very well timed and composed. Phone cameras seem to do well in bright sunlight, even direct sunlight. |

An eerie effect perfect for the whole scene and very different. I tried an edit of just the ball. High contrast. |

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for the comment. My wife said almost the same thing thing. Take a deep breath then exhale to lower the blood pressure. This marker was at Black Canyon National Park in Southwest CO. President Taft did a dedication of the Gunnison Tunnel in 1909. I need a negative elevation marker next. |

Hi Bob,
I'll have to find a benchmark with a negative elevation next. Thanks for the comment. |

Good choice for the subject, we might skip next month's submission. The flower looks to be reaching for the light which is reflected in the shades of colors. The red is intense. My brother worked for a major printer in LA and he would analyze thousands of shades of colors for magazine covers. One small suggestion is to get the stem leading into the corner. It would level out the flower. Have a great holiday if we take next month off. |

I like the clarity of the subject(s). You recovered very nicely thought editing. I would have never known how difficult it was to take the shot. The side lighting brings more attention to the center and there's a slow change of color from right to left. The background blends in with the side of the childs' face. You surely have a talent with portraits. |

Great application action on exactly the right picture. I want to see the original except that might ruin the effect you captured here. I needed to zoom in to understand what is happening or if this was painted, etc. Also I like the composition but not sure why. It has a few S patterns, shows depth, multiple angles of the flowers leading from a center point. It leaves me with a good feeling each time I look which means a great picture. |

This shot deserves printing and framing. I like the way the owl is lightly looking to he left of camera. Some cameras have focus beams so I wonder if the owl saw the camera? |

Dogs make great subjects. Some of the best pictures are taken on the phone cameras. Gaston looks in deep thought and you caught an expression in the eye. I like the tilt of the background when the eyes are level, gives a slight feel of action. Focus, especially on the eye, is excellent. Thought you might like this pic of a dog named Maui also take on a phone cam. Dogs are great for close-ups. |
