thanks for the supportive feedback. Relative to the "...some would object. . ." are those probably blessed with shooting in an area where there are always clouds. Here in the SF Bay Area, our sky's are blue and clear except in the winter. So I keep a cloud bank for those times when a clear sky simply will not do. I agree it is the final image that matters and if I had not noted the layer masking I doubt many if any would have
known. |

If I really focus on the image, I can begin to imagine a tropical area but on first review it seems like any other tree in a forest. I think you made a good choice to crop the original image. I do find the black spot upper right of center to be a distraction. I might try adjusting the the color sliders to bring out more variations and contrast in the image, if it were mine, as there seems to be a lot of texture in the bark and I am guessing variations in the green of the leaves |

I do like this image with the three areas of rain just left of center. The image gives a great sense of the approaching storm with the dark clouds. I do feel the beach area in the lower right is a distraction and you might consider cropping a lower part of the image off. Another distraction is the very hot spot near top center. I am not familiar with CLiR and its effect on the original image but I do like the color in the storm clouds especially the greens (not so much the blues) since it reminds me of dangerous storms I have experienced in the past. Probably why I am drawn to the image. Nice work

The Palouse is a great area to photograph and the scene you have post has a lot of potential with the church and old buildings. I think the subject of your image is lost in its position in the image and with the numerous distractions of the other buildings. I do like the general setting with tree, clouds and old buildings with their textures and tones. Perhaps it was not possible to move about the property for isolating the church or other buildings. |
