We may debate the crop for this image, but you are the creator of this art piece. It is your vision.
As I view your art piece, I am struck by the excellent quality of your B&W conversion. I enjoy the texture of the rock as well as that of the twisted rope.
The excellent blurring of the background causes the subject rock and rope stand out. |

I like this image. I might prefer a slightly looser crop, but you may need this crop to take out distractions. Nevertheless, it is a good portrait of a relaxed subject.
Well done. |

Will, I enjoy this image. I will confess to going through a series of thoughts.
I have been told that an artist, especially a photographer, is fortunate in a viewer will spend as much as 4 seconds looking at a piece of art.
I have spent far more than that looking at your image. At first, I simply enjoyed the lines, colors and textures of the image. Next, I tried to discover what I was looking at. Finally, I came back to simply enjoying the image. |

Dale, your wife is a very talented decorator, and your photograph does her justice. What a very nice Christmas image. I enjoy the sharpness if each detail and the richness of the colors. I really enjoy that richness in the handle of the basket.
I do have a question. What is the light source for the image? Is there a source of light inside of each class object?
One other thing I enjoy here: the pattern of shadows on the background.
Very well done. |

I like this image a lot. I like that you selected a small segment of the original image by cropping and then experimenting with the use of layers in Ps. I like that you decided to use the original Ps layer and then duplicate it. Blurring the top layer and selecting a blend mode you liked completed the image. Feathering the edges is a nice touch. Did you experiment with the amount of blur you used on the second layer? |

Thank you, Dale. Your suggestions make sense and are worth my consideration and possible experimentation. I do want to keep the fact that my wife and dog (Lacey) sitting in the chair are only memories connected with the old rocking chair. |

Steven, you are correct about the scale. I did go back and increased the scale but did not like it as well. When dealing with memories, perhaps scale does not matter. Nevertheless, you are right about the scale. Nice catch. |

Thanks, Jennifer. You ask an interesting question. Of course, if I presented the chair in B&W, I would need to change the color of the background. Every day, I see the chair in its present condition. The image of my wife and dog is only a memory. |

Thank you, Cindy. The process for this composite is really not that involved once you learn the power of layers in Ps. |
