Wow, Jennifer! This image is a real puzzle at first glance. It is not one where you can take a quick glance and move on. I keep looking at it and still have trouble in orienting the faces. Perhaps this might literally make a great puzzle.
Thank you for sharing this with us. |

Cindy, unfortunately there are images that will never look right. I find the original to be very confusing. The trees and the reflections cause me not to know where in the image is the base of the monument located. Is it in the small clearing in front of the trees, or behind the trees? I applaud you for your willingness to experiment, but I fear you were destined to failure no matter what you did. |

Dale, this is a very interesting image. I might have walked right by and missed it. While the image you first presented is interesting, it is the B&W that that I feel has the greatest impact. |

Steven, another excellent bird photo. Everything in sharp focus. The action of the adult bird moving the stick adds so much interest. Very nice. |

Thank you, Dale. Yes, I am really drawn to the B&W. This is how I envisioned the image as I was composing it. The haiku poetry is a fun project. I try to invoke the Japanese concept of the impermanence of all things. Perhaps my advanced age adds to this feeling. |

Thanks, Steven. When I first viewed this composition through my viewfinder, it screamed B&W to me. Perhaps that is because of my earlier work with B&W film and my B&W darkroom.
I do see opportunities for a color version. |

Jennifer, thank you for your comments. When I first composed this image, I visualized it as a B&W. I do see your point about the color version. Thank you for recognizing the haiku. |
