Dale, thank you for your encouragement. I no longer can be satisfied with the constraints of "traditional photography." I have no problem with those who prefer it, and greatly admire those who record wonderful compositions and beautiful light. I am enjoying my experimentation and (hopefully) artistic growth. |

Lance, Steven points out a fact that caught my attention. The upward direction of the ropes holding the net indicates that there is a bit of wind catching the net, yet there seems to be no movement in the trees. Wind, plus a fast shutter speed? |

Steven, thank you for your studied response. I really appreciate your evaluations. You have caused me to remember some wise words I have received from another. That is: "There are always two people in every photograph; the photographer and the viewer." It would be easy, but lazy to simply say, "I create for myself, and don't care what others think." But the fact that I have presented this image for viewing means I do care how the viewer receives it.
As I continue to learn and experiment with my art, I need you, and this entire group to give honest critiques of my work. |

A very interesting image. I don't mind that the building is leaning. You have added enough lean to assure the viewer that it is a purposeful effect. |

I wish I were sitting on that rock! What a relaxing scene.
I do wonder if the image would have been improved if you had raised the camera slightly to place the subject a little lower in the scene. I realize that you can't run back and rephotograph the scene. Perhaps a crop up from the bottom with some added very light darkening (burning) around the edges would help focus attention on the subject. |

I feel that this is a very strong image. As such, I agree with both Lance and Will.
I remember wise words I heard some years ago that said, "Never take advice from someone who has never done what you are attempting to do." So, remember that I have never done what you are doing. Nevertheless, I wonder what the image would look like if you had increased your shutter speed by a small amount so as to give a bit more definition to the wings while retaining some degree of motion blur. |

Lance, you cause me to stop and ponder. At first, I thought, "Why is he photographing an empty volleyball court?" Next, I spent some time trying to capture your vision for this scene.
Finally, I began to feel a sense of isolation and abandonment. I now feel that this will be at its strongest as one of a series of themed images.
I like your choice of crop.

Thank you, Lance. Yes, a B&W conversion may work well. I will give it a try. |
