87 Dec 22 Reply Thank you, Dale. I value your always good opinion. Maybe circumstances will someday allow us to have aa cup of coffee together. Dec 10th
87 Dec 22 Reply Thanks for your comments. I'm glad you liked it. Yes, the saltshaker could be either replaced, or added to. As I mentioned to Lance, I often get focused on my original vision and overlook other options. Dec 10th
87 Dec 22 Reply Thank you, Lance. As usual, you have given me plenty of food for thought. I tend to get too focused on my original vision and fail to consider options that may carry my vision further.
At this point I am doing a lot of experimenting, and greatly enjoying the process. Please keep pushing me.

87 Dec 22 Comment Could it be that you are standing above (hill side?) the scene, looking down at the fish rack and the buildings? Dec 10th
87 Dec 22 Comment Steven and Will have said it well. You have captured a brief moment in time in a very good photo. This kind of action shot requires concentration and timing. Both are evident in this image.
My only advice is to shoot wider and leave yourself room to crop. This would have left you room in front of the board, and you could eliminate much of the sky.

87 Dec 22 Comment At first glance, I thought, "Wow! What a great image." The more I returned and looked at it (I still like it a lot) the more something began to trouble me. Is it a visual perspective issue?
I, too, would have wanted to include what appears to be a fish drying rack as the subject of the image. However, it serves to cause me much confusion. As I first looked at the rack, it appeared to me no more than 5 feet in height. But if that is true, what is what appears to be a very small (toy?) ladder doing propped up on the rack? There is what appears to be a somewhat large tin can on top of the rack. Is it really a tin can, or a large fuel storage tank beside the blue building down by the water? All too confusing.
Perhaps Lance, or you can explain what I think I see. Or maybe I need to get my eyes checked.
The remainder of the image is wonderful.

87 Dec 22 Comment Very creative. This is a feature I have yet to explore. I hope to see more in the future. Dec 7th
87 Dec 22 Comment Both Steven and Cindy have said it well. You did a good job using the conditions you were given. It is always hard to work with a cloudless, blue sky when the sky must take up a large portion of the image. Using your processing software to darken the sky might help. Dec 7th
87 Dec 22 Comment Give yourself a well-deserved "pat on the back." Good job of separating the owl from the background. A wider aperture, if available, would also help with that. Dec 7th
87 Dec 22 Reply Thank you for holding me to the fire. I try always to remember that what I think looks good, may not look as good to someone else. My thought was that the inclusion of the saltshaker would add to the sense of breakfast table location. I may have been wrong.
Yes, a more unique, or older coffee pot would work well. That is not something I have in our home.

87 Dec 22 Reply I always look forward to your review. Thank you. Dec 7th
87 Dec 22 Reply Thank you for your encouraging comments. As far as the issue of the hand is concerned, your suggestions are well taken. I did not want the hand (my wife's) to become too prominent, but you are correct when it comes to most instances of cropping a part of the body. Dec 7th
87 Dec 22 Reply Jack, thank you for dropping by and commenting on my image. My project (Challenge) has provided me with the opportunity to think more creatively about common items I see every day in my home. It has also enabled me to continue finding photographic subjects during this time when my bad back has limited my travel. Dec 7th
87 Dec 22 Comment Another very nice family portrait. The shallow Dof is well used. Sharp focus appears to start at the front of Shiloh's cap and runs through Ashley's eyes. (It's hard to tell where it begins on a baby's smooth skin.) My eyes immediately make contact with the very sharp, large, beautiful eyes of Ashley. These eyes are looking right back at me. Therefore, for me, Ashley becomes the subject of the photograph. Shiloh provides an interesting secondary subject. Dec 7th
