Thank you, Lance. I always find your remarks to be both helpful and encouraging. I featured this image in one section of my recent presentation on B&W photography at our local Photography club and it was well received.
the image I am beginning to work on for next month features another object in our home, but with rearrangement and a different technique. Not sure it is going to work. |

Beautiful image. Good color and interesting patterns caused by the slight wave action of the water. As for the double reflection, I don't believe I have ever noticed that before.
One thing does confuse me: the second reflection seems to be a horizontally flipped image of the first. |

As others have already commented, good use of shallow focus. You have shown the vastness of the grounds while using the one cross as a symbol of all of the others who gave their life there. |

Will, Will, what have you done? The "Purists" found among the members of most any Photography club will scorn you and condemn you to H.... And the more creative minds will spend hours trying to understand how you produced the image. Prior to reading your description, I could only assume that the objects on the left side lay on one plain, while those to the right lay on plains of increasing distance from those on the left. As the distance increased, the objects on the right became blurred. The very blurred objects became specular highlights and showed the shape of the aperture blades in the lens.
Thanks for causing me to think. |

Really good work!!! By converting the image to B&W, and using a black background, you have simplified the image. By removing the often distraction of color, the focus of attention is firmly fixed to the well-focused dice. Your hand adds the needed context.
A real "decisive moment" photograph. |

The soft focus and B&W approach to this subject seems to me to be most appropriate. The sharper focus of the newborns face does not detract from the mood of the photograph because a newborn's skin is naturally soft. Also, mom (and Grandmother) wants to see the details of her daughter's face. |

Thank you for your comments. I decided on placing the dish on a black background in order to simplify the image. I added the white boarder as a way of separating the image from the black background of this website. |

Thank you for your comments. I am finding it interesting to find ways to improve my B&W conversions. This image caused me to experiment with different sliders in LrC to separate different tonal values from each other. As for medication, I do remember my mother threatening to wash my mouth out with soap. |

Thanks for your comments. As I continue to search though our home, I look for objects that I can photograph without trying to alter them from their natural positioning. |
