Will, I like your crop. Without the information you provided about the location, I could have pictured this in my mind as being most anywhere in the world. A little girl safe in the strong arms of a loving father. What is she looking at? What is causing her expression? Perhaps she is just wondering, "who is that crazy man pointing his camera at me?"
Good work. |

Thank you, Dale. I am glad that you like it. For most of my photography life I have planned for days when I could travel to some location to find interesting scenes to photographs. Now I find myself looking for what I have overlooked at home. |

Thank you. I liked the monotone, but decided I liked the results of the colorize filter even better. It has been a good exercise to look for simple compositions at home. Also, for me, a very practical one at this time. |

Good action shot. Your grandson is the subject of your interest and you have focused your attention on him. I like the fact that the ball is in the air.
Could you not have paused the play long enough to go down and have the sideline crew remove the first down marker? I am sure they would have complied. NOT!
Good job. |

Yes, WOW! Where do I start? The composition is just too good to be true. If it were not for the red sailing ship, my eyes would go directly to the bright side of the iceberg, and then follow that line right out of the image without spending any time on the left. Despite the sailing ship being small in the image, the fact that it is red makes it the first place my eyes go. From there my eyes move to the lines of the iceberg. Everything works together to create a very impressive image. Are you running out of wall space in your home yet? |

I very much like this image. Nice leading lines drawing me into the image. Two thoughts offered as alternative visions for the image: 1. Convert to B&W. 2. If the cut off church steeple bothers you (it doesn't bother me), crop down and in from the upper right corner until you reach the horizon line. This will eliminate the steeple, eliminate unneeded space to the right, and make the rest of the image larger. |

What a very nice image. You did a good job converting to B&W.
I agree that your composition is good. I am not sure about the water droplets. It might have been better if there had been a way to incorporate some of the fountain structure to give the viewer more information about the droplets. That might not have been possible without going wider and having the couple appear smaller. In that case, I prefer what you did.
Good work. |

Thanks for the encouragement, Steven. I do not remember when, or where my wife received these boxes. Nor did I try to alter the arrangements. Yes, I like the inscriptions on the two boxes, but that is not what first drew me to the image. The inscription at the bottom was something of an afterthought, but once I tried it, I liked it. |

Thank you for your always helpful and thought-provoking comments. On the one hand, I find myself lamenting the fact I am not able to get out more to look for great images to photograph. On the other hand, once I start thinking about what is all around me in my home, I begin to envision many images to photograph and different editing techniques to employ.
I do agree that it would have been better to keep the shelf on which the boxes were stacked. After trying to correct perspective in Ps, and then going back to LrC. I was so pleased that one click in LrC fixed the issue that I failed to consider what was lost by removing the shelf. I was just lazy. |

Thanks for your comments. I was not able to achieve my initial visualization of the image. "The best laid plans...."
I am trying to stretch myself by photographing images I would not have ever before considered. Certainly, this is not an award-winning photograph, but it was fun, and I learned a bit. |

Thank you for keeping me looking forward to your next presentation. I feel like a detective trying to solve a case.
At first look I thought you were presenting an image with a great deal of "noise" in it. I quicky realized it was not noise, but what is it? Your second image (original) gave me the clue.
Still, the evidence is confusing. Where is the water line? The post in the lower center of the image appears to indicate a water level in the center of the image of that post. Yet, the two clumps of plants (one on each side of the image) seem to indicate a water level higher in the image.
Another interesting image. |
