87 May 22 Reply Don't believe you can't learn PS. True; you will never learn it all. I remember many years ago when PS was in its infancy sitting in a seminar led by two of the creators of the program. They explained the process for performing a certain task. When they finished the explanation, a hand went up from one in the audience. "You can also do that this way," the person began, and continued to describe the way he did the same thing. One of the two leaders quickly responded by saying, "We didn't know you could do it that way."
PSA offers a course in beginning PS.

87 May 22 Comment By converting the image to B&W and adding a large amount of contrast you have turned the image into a very near abstract image. Good. The gator is there, but it takes a moment of looking to find him. The image contains a great amount of black and white, but not many grays. The one thing that bothers me is that the bright ripples on the bottom half, and especially on the left side are so large and bright that my eyes are continually drawn from the gator to that bright area.
A very interesting image.

87 May 22 Comment I love it. Who can resist mom and dad and six little babies? You have placed the birds in a very good spot in your composition and framed them well. The reflections of the sun on the strong circular ripples surrounding the geese have a spotlight affect that draws the eye. The sunlight on the lesser ripples of the remaining water, plus the addition of the raindrops on the water add interest that prevents the upper area of the photograph from being wasted space.
Good job.

87 May 22 Comment I am not an experienced bird photographer, so take that into consideration as you read this. I always like a "sense of place," but in this case the grasses are too far away and therefore very much out of focus. I would prefer a much closer crop that would let me better see the two birds, which are your subject.
Steve has given you a very helpful response.

87 May 22 Comment I really like this image. Good job. Great pose and expression. B&W was a good choice. May 13th
87 May 22 Reply Thanks for the compliment, but the credit for steady goes to a lens with built in Image Stabilization. My steady hands left me some years ago. I still try to use good technique when holding the camera. It also helped that I was sitting down on a bench at the time. May 13th
87 May 22 Reply Yes, the noise was a problem. It was also increased by the fact that the original RAW capture was under exposed. Topaz Denoise AI does a great job. May 13th

87 May 22 Reply Thank you for your comments. Yes, there is a lot to look at. Almost too much. May 13th
87 May 22 Comment I have spent some time looking at this image. I surmise this is total reflection in the water. My main uncertainty is concerning the change in color of the water. In the bottom third of the image the water is reflecting a blue sky. In the top two thirds the color is gray. This could be due to shadow caused by the presence of dark cloud cover over that portion of the sky, or due to a dark flow of water from a close by source of dark water just upstream from the photographed location. In any case, I believe the bright spots near the reflected sun to be caused by the sun reflecting on moving water. Then again, I may be totally wrong.
I do like this image, but the image you present in group 83 is by far my favorite of the two.

87 May 22 Reply Thank you, Cindy, for your reply. Yes, there is a lot to see. In fact, almost too much for a good Photo. That is one reason I cropped out the group of people on the far left.
I am really liking the mask tools in LrC.
