Your work is a winner - it would have taken first place in a competition at the Schenectady Photographic Society. I have not used HDR myself but I wonder how close a non-HDR version would have come to the image I see here (I assume the original you have submitted is right out of the camera). This is a great image - you should give it a lot of exposure. |

I am not a birder but I suspect these are good examples of the species. The red patch on the head is a plus, photographically speaking. Are the bodies of the birds in as sharp focus as you might like? |

Excellent example of the animal and could be used as an illustration of the species in an encyclopedia. I can't imagine how it could be improved photographically. |

I would like to have seen more of the face but a grab is a grab - take what you see and work with it. I want to know more about her and her life. |

You nailed it. The bit of red (a sign?) on the boat adds to the image. I can offer no suggestions. |

I like the suggestion about cropping on the right that you and others made. Your other ideas about stars and a light in the window are good ones but won't happen this season! |
