I've seen this view driving down I-5 in Oregon many times but I've never seen it this "mystical". I like the shot and the and the way you use the haze to create a vale around the mountain. I think your symmetrical composition works well for this photo and the way you have created layers with the hills in the foreground. The texture of the clouds also works well for me.
I agree with Dawn in that I think the tint is a bit off. |

I like the sharp color contrast as shown with the water, rocks and clouds. I think the overall focus is very good and I appreciate the sharp detail in the back as compared with the smooth water in the foreground.
I do think the upper right corner is a bit too dark. For me the flow of water in the center foreground pull my eye up into the image, but it doesn't have my eye settle on the rock. Instead it pull my eye into the middle where there isn't an item of interest. Perhaps it would look better if you had moved to the right a bit so the rock would be more centered in the image, and thus an interest point that the eye was drawn too. |

Darcy, you do a much better job with the Oregon coast than me, and I live here!! Unfortunately right after we had lunch with you and Roy Karen had some medical issues which to now has limited our travel so we couldn't get down to Brookings to connect. But at least we get to see your fantastic photos, thanks.
This is one of those great photos in my opinion. I like your composition and the people on the beach give it a nice sense of scale. I think your lighting is spot on as it really helps to create the atmosphere, and the rippled reflection of the sun on the water adds a lot to the image.
I do wonder however if the sun could be toned down a bit as, to my eye, it seems overexposed and I find it a slight bit distracting

I like to be original in my comments but for this photo I have to fully agree with Francois, Tom and Darcy above. I think this is a well composed shot and I like the effect created by the subdued lighting.
I was wondering if cropping it from the bottom would make a difference and accentuate the rock and waterfall more. I'm not sure it worked, what does everyone else think? |

I like the composition of this photo. You have a nice relaxing scene and I think the people walking and enjoying the park help create the story. For me, the monument created a nice interest point and the walkway draws my eye to it. I thin your lighting is good for what you are trying to achieve.
I do agree with Darcy in thinking that the sun needs to be toned down a bit. I see a bit of flare from the sun which I consider distracting. I still think it's a great shot. |
