My first thought is "what did you say to have him walk away from you?". I like photos that start my imagination off in different directions. It doesn't bother me that he has his back to you, it helps me create a story. I think your composition is good with the penguin centered and highlighted in the V formed by the landscape.
I think it would show better if the snow was a little lighter and the brown spots in the lower right were removed. It seems I'm doing a lot of agreeing with Francois as I concur with his comment about cropping the sky down. |

This is a nice relaxing image for me and I like what you did with the post processing. It's a comfortable simple image and I think your composition is good with the placement of the two trees to frame the sky with the fading color. Technically I think you did a good job with exposure, focus and depth of field.
I do agree with Francois that having something in the image to serve as a primary item of interest would be a good addition. |

There are a number of things to like about this photo, but what strikes me most is your very effective use of empty space. Your use of a few simple elements (the house, the trees and the flock in the background) with the expanse of space convey to my mind the vastness of the area. I like it. I think you have good balance between the fields and the sky and I agree with Dawn regarding the effectiveness of the layers with canola fields and the roll hills. I also find the lines created by the hills very positive. |
