I think doing this a a pano REALLY does it justice. The lone old farmstead surrounded by the expansive open fields goes a long way in accentuating the vastness of the area. (Growing up in the Midwest this reminds me of the unending corn fields of Central Illinois). I am also impressed by the simplicity of the photo, which keeps my eye focused on the farmstead. The beginning of the sunrise, with the color it brings to the image are, for me, a big plus. I like the way your colors work together and I agree with Paul in how good your focus and depth of field are. Great Job |

I think this is a really good sunset photo. I like the way you have the pier leading my eye from the lower left up to the upper right where the sun is. In my opinion the silhouette of the hills with the sun peeking up from them is a real plus and I like the way you have captured the reflection of the sun on the water. I agree with Paul regarding your good work with the colors. I also like how Darcy has cropped up from the bottom, but I don't see the need for any cropping from the sides as I think you were correct in leaving the extra space on the right. Great job, and I think we are lucky to have you in our group. Welcome. |

This shot evokes a strong feeling in me - to get off my chair and go for a hike. I like photos like this that bring out a more emotional reaction. Good job. I like your composition in how the path takes me into the image and highlights the vast distance shown. I appreciate the soft lighting as it gives me a more relaxed feeling. The clouds in the sky, in my opinion, help add content and create shadows that add depth to the image.
There does look to me as you have a lot of haze in the background and I wonder if you were able to apply haze reduction. |

Welcome to the Oregon Coast Darcy. And yes we do have a lot of cloudy days, but you learn to work with the softer diffused light.
I like how you used the light to bring out more of the background and thus, for my eye, draw me into the image. I think your composition is good in the way you have centered the stream and caught the reflection of the foliage. This is an excellent representative image of what you find in our coastal forests (the ones that haven't been logged yet). Great shot. |

You do manage to find a lot of old abandoned farm buildings, and your photographs show them well. This is another one of your good examples. (I have to make a couple day trip to Eastern Oregon to find old farm buildings). I like the uniform lines of the grass which, for me, shows that the wind was blowing pretty hard. The clouds in the sky work for me in two ways; first they give nice texture filling the upper portion of the image and the give good color contrast, second the way they fill the sky creates a sense of stormy weather which I think you augment well with the lower exposure of the barn and grasses.
I think the right side of the image is a bit too dark so, I hope you don't mind my taking the liberty, I cropped in from the right. I eliminates the "gate" which I found distracting, for me makes the exposure more consistent and highlights the barn more. |

What I like most of this photo is the contrasting colors of the sky, clouds and green and browns of the mountains and valley. I am also impressed with your composition in how you've got the valley framed between the shrub on the left and the mountains on the right. I do agree with Paul's comment regarding how you a "presenting your "blues"". I like the sharp focus and how the distance allows you to have good depth of field. |
