For me this is a good study in using shadow and light in a B&W image. I like how you have the inner petals nicely lit and then have the light quickly drop off as my eye moves out from there. I think the lighting is good throughout the image to show detail in all areas. I also like the composition with the center of the flower slightly off center.
I seem to detect a bit of a reflection on the very bottom of the frame, which for me, is a distraction and perhaps you might want to crop it up to eliminate that. |

I like the composition and I agree with George as to the way the couloir creates a leading line to draw my eye into the image and to the glacier. I also like the detail that the patches of snow in the couloir add to the image. I think the contrast of the dark scree slopes and the white of the glacier work well together.
For my taste I'd like to see some sharper detail, especially in the front of the glacier ice and I think the green in the foreground could use a bit more exposure. To my eye there seems to be a noticeable amount of haze over all the photo and I would like to see more of a demarcation in the line separating the top of the glacier and the sky. |

You have captured another great mountain picture, I like it. For me the smooth water and the reflection of the mountain in the lake make this image. I think your lighting is good, and coming from the side I believe it adds a sense of depth to the photo.
For me the chunk of ice in the bottom left doesn't add to the photo and is distracting. I took the liberty of cropping from the bottom, I hope you don't mind, and in my opinion it brings attention more to the mountain and its reflection. (I left enough so the full reflection would be in the pic and perhaps it would help if you replaced the remaining bit of ice with the pebbled riverbed). |

I appreciate the composition with the lines in the ice in the foreground leading my eye back into the photo to the mountain and the sun on the edge of the mountain. This photo has a wide range of exposure requirements and I think you have handled them well.
I like the vignetting effect of the sun but in my opinion it's a bit strong and would help with a little toning down.
Overall, I think this is a great shot.

George & Darcy,
I mostly use spot focusing and I was focused on the center of the flower. Because of the density of the forest the lighting was really low and I had to use a lower aperture (f/8) to get enough light so my depth of field wasn't as deep as I would normally get |

What I like most about this composition is how you have split the scene with the left half consisting of the buildings and the right half about the sea. I think the way you have structured the buildings between the sky and the sea, and how they create a pointer works well to draw my eye across the image to the sea, and for me creates a sense of the vastness of the sea. This is, for me, accentuated by your rendering of the sky and my eye is drawn to the texture and detail of the clouds, with a key interest area of the light section of the clouds. I also like that your lighting and focus are "spot on". |
