Mark, first you say in your comment "(for what it's worth)" and let me just say that your opinion to me is ALWAYS WORTH A LOT! I continually learn from you, both with the descriptions you give of your photos and the comments you make on all of our photos.
Secondly I like the things you suggest about the photo and I will go back and see how I can work them in. And yes it does look better on my screen where I can see it with 6742 x 4498 pixels |

I agree with Paul in that I think the impressionist aspect of the photo is what gives it the interest. I like the use of low key color contrast with the blue of the sky and the brownish green of the grasses.
In my opinion the grasses in the front, for which you have the sharp focus, easily blend in with the background and aren't highlighted enough to serve as a primary point of interest. |

Mark, I am always impressed in the way that you not only take impressive photos you find a way also give them a strong artistic element. In my opinion this is one of those photos. To my eye your use of empty space in the foreground goes a long way to accentuate the hills of the islands and shore making them the key interest point of the photo. I like your choice of doing this in B&W as for me it helps to increase the contrast and provide more of an impact of the photo. Oh, and by the way, great work with the pano. You have much more patience that I seem to possess. |

With this photo I am most impressed with the composition in the way you have positioned the key elements with the rocks to the side, the clouds and their reflection in the water. It appears to be well worth your effort to get to that location at that time. I also like your use of color contrast with the color of the clouds and reflection against the blue of the water. I agree with the others regarding your use of a slow shutter speed because, in my opinion, the way it creates a nice blur to the clouds and adds a softness to the overall image. I wish I had the skill to capture scenes like that - and I live next to the ocean. |

I think you are successful in getting the sun as it's just coming over the horizon. I like the way you have captured the intensity of the colors with the sun just peaking up and the contrast it creates with the darkness of the foreground. I appreciate your post processing efforts to bring out the detail in the ridges in the foreground.
Could you have done a bit more with the haze reduction to bring out more detail for the ridges in the middle of the photo. In my opinion the rising ridge on the right is a bit distracting and would it help to crop in from the right so that you would have more or less level horizon across the entire frame. |

In my opinion this is NOT one of your lousy street photos. Having tried a little bit of street photography myself I think this is pretty good. I like that your subjects are in good focus while everything else is a bit blurred, which helps keep my attention on the three people. I think the subdued light and colors help create the "quiet" atmosphere and the color contrasts with your subjects and their background in my opinion enhance the photo. I appreciate the composition in that you chose a vertical presentation so that the narrowness of the scene adds to the quiet secluded atmosphere. In my opinion a great job |
