Interesting note: I was a couple weeks early for a much better shot of the Walla Walla. On a crossing two weeks after I took my shot the captain had to announce to everyone on board "ALL PASSENGERS IMMEDIATELY GO TO THE PASSENGER DECK AND - BRACE FOR IMPACT" The Walla Walla had lost all power and steering and then ran aground. I'm sure it resulted in some interesting photos. |

Thanks for the tip on the Halo Mark, I stupidly didn't notice it when I posted the pic and I appreciate your help as to how I avoid it in the future. |

I like the way you have silhouetted the boat and the ducks in the sky and used the high contrast of the light to bring my eye to the boat. The orange of the sun and reflections provide, in my opinion, good offset to the dark of the rest of the image. I like your choice of shutter speed as it allows for some detail of the waves to show, which I like. Another one of your great shots.
p.s. In regards to the direction of the geese, are they going in the right direction and is it the boat that is going the wrong way? |

I see this as another one of your intriguing shots that highlight the power of nature. I like the contrast created with the dark of the back wall and the white of the falling water. In my opinion you have done a great job of bringing out the effect of the mist created as the water hits the bottom of the fall. For me I see the misty water in the foreground as one aspect and the streams of water coming down on the face of the rock as another. I see it as you having captured two different dimensions of the same scene. I think you have done a great job. |

I think this image conveys a good sense of isolation. Having the red cabin contrast against the green of the forest helps, for me, to intensify that feeling. I also like what you've done in bringing out more of the green of the trees.
For me, I'd like to see a bit sharper focus. I was wondering if cropping to highlight the cabin more might be worthwhile. I'm not sure, what do you think. |

I perceive this as a classic mountain landscape photo. You have all the right elements included and I think you have put them together with good composition. I think your lighting is good and to my eye you have good depth of field so that we have nice detail throughout the image.
If it were my photo I would try to bring up the contrast a bit and I'm wondering if you could have reduced some of the haze in the upper part of the photo. |

What strikes me most about this photo is the sense of serenity you have created with the subject and the way you have kept it simple. I think you did an excellent job with the slow shutter speed and I also think the low key lighting is very positive. I like that the boulder is in sharp focus while the water around it is blurred and the lines created by the flow of the water draw my eye to the boulder. |
