I really like the emphasis on the fall colors and the reflection on the lake and I like the slight ripples on the lake. I agree with Jeffrey about having the boat house more in the center of the image, if that was workable. For me the trees on the right side of the photo seem a little overexposed. Overall a very good job. |

I like this shot Paul (but I always like your B&W shots). I think the texture and contrast are good and I like the composition. I also would like to see a bit less cropping, however your reply to Dawn goes a long way to explain what we all deal with in many photo situations and I think this is a very good job considering. I do think the shrubs in the foreground might benefit with a little less exposure.
p.s. I should take advantage of my "administrator" role and see if you're posting a B&W first so I don't post one the same month - yours always look so much better than mine. |

What captures my interest for this photo is the sense of isolation that it creates in my mind. I think of it as being a once popular resting place that has been abandoned to the elements. I like photos that make my mind question what is going on.
I like your positioning of the bench in the frame and having only one item of interest, in my opinion, helps the composition. I appreciate the ripples you have in the water. For me your focus is good and overall I think you've done a good job with the lighting however I do think the ground in the foreground is a bit overexposed and could benefit from a little more contrast and detail. |

Dawn, you mentioned that this is a VERY popular photo subject in New Zealand. As a side comment I just lead a discussion on slow shutter speed for my camera club and in doing my research I came across several articles by professional photographers who used this shot as an example. I like yours the best. As I've compared your shot to those of the others I am at a loss to find anything that I could recommend for improvement.
I really do like the way you have brought the pink out in the sky and I like the sharp detail you have for the leaves of the tree. GREAT shot, I think it is a prize winner. |

I like this photo and along with the others I see the rays of the sun as the primary interest point of the image. I'm not as skilled in post processing so I'm wondering if there is a way to make the streaks of light stand out a bit more. For me, I like seeing it as a pano by cropping up from the bottom and then down a bit from the top. What do the rest of you think? In cropping as a pano I think the shrub on the left and the rock on the right help provide a bit of balance. From the technical aspects I think you've done a great job. |
