93 Jul 23 Comment I think you do a great job of using the mist and clouds to create a sense of mystery in your photos. You have me seeing just enough that I want to see more. I like the soft lighting and the low key color that you have included. I think this is a good artistic shot. Jul 25th
93 Jul 23 Comment To me, the first impression I get from a photo is key and my first impression of this photo it GREAT. I think your composition is "right on" with the positioning of the dead branch and the way it points my eye up to the mountains. I am very impressed with how you have both those elements positioned in the frame. Your lighting is just right in my mind with the dark foreground of the water and leading up to the lighter color of the sky. I also appreciate your sharp focus and depth of field as I think this image is enhanced with the sharp detail which you have provided.

I think it's with what Darcy did in creating two photos with it; individually they are really good and combined the image is great.

93 Jul 23 Comment I think you are right about the captivating nature of the reflection of the clouds on the water. I think you've caught the image well with good lighting and a nice focus. The post processing step you mention have, for my eye, helped the photo positively.

I like the scene but I'm a bit uncomfortable with the composition. I don't see a point of interest to draw my eye into the photo. I like the reflection of the trees on the right side but I think it would have helped if you would have moved the camera to look higher so we could see the trees as well as their reflection.

93 Jul 23 Comment Great shot Mark, but I have a question for you: do you ever take photos of places that are easy to get to?

Having been a mountain climber in my earlier days I very much appreciate the dramatic nature of this scene and I think you have done a great job of conveying the challenging aspects of this mountain. Having chosen to do the photo in B&W is, in my opinion, an excellent decision and I think the high contrast does a lot to highlight the detail of the rock formations. For me the exposure and depth of field are spot on.

I like the lighting on the lower half of the image but for me the upper part with all the snow seems a little overexposed. Perhaps in post processing a mask could be used to lower the exposure just on that part of the photo.

Still a great photo; and as an old mountain climber it makes me long for the past days when I could have made my way up to the top. It's a very good photo that can bring out such emotions for the viewer.

93 Jul 23 Comment For me this photo has a high level of interest and I especially like the way you caught the foal looking right into the camera. I think your composition is very good with the single item of interest, the foal and mother, set in the mountain meadow. Color wise I like how the brown of the horses lets them stand out against the greens of the meadow and I also appreciate the clouds creating a darker green of the mountains in the background. Those horses look like they belong in the wild. Great shot. Jul 22nd
93 Jul 23 Comment I like the composition with the canyon starting at the bottom of the frame and the leading my eye diagonally up through the image. I think the sky at the top with the clouds adds to the overall impression. For me the color contrast works well with the redish brown of the rocks against the green of the foliage; good job. I also appreciate your sharp focus and depth of field so we can see detail throughout the frame. I also think the haze in the distance is a plus in that it helps give a sense of the size. Jul 22nd
