Mark, it impresses me in the way you are always able to create dramatic photos especially when you show how you often start with something a bit more mediocre and then through your post processing skills make it turn out great. This photo is a good example of that.
I like the composition with the main action of the crashing wave centered with the choppy water in the foreground which for me conveys the power of the waves. I think having a bit of the seawall to the right helps provide a sense of perspective. I also like the way you used a fast shutter speed to catch and highlight more detail in the turbulent water. I very much like the exposure and contrast in the final image which, for me, demonstrates your significant post processing skills. |

For me this photo creates a peaceful relaxing scene, which I appreciate. I like the way you have split the photo with the trees in the background balanced with their reflection in the water. I see the focus as being just a bit soft which for me is a positive as the softness reinforces the peaceful feeling I get.
On the right side at the water line there is a light object, perhaps a rock of log which I find a bit distracting an perhaps could be removed. While I like this photo in B&W I like it better in color (perhaps because I'm Irish I consider green a preferred color). To my eye it might be because the different color shades help to bring out more detail in the trees while keeping the softness of the image. |

I am very impressed with this photo. I know it's yours Dawn, but one could wonder if it could be something from National Geo!.
I like your sharp focus throughout all the image and specifically the sky with all the stars. The striated rocks in the foreground in my mind really help to accentuate everything. I like your composition with the higher cliffs set off to the right having more sky to the left where the center band of stars rises up from. You seem to me to have used the limited lighting well as you can see detail through out while maintaining the sense of night time. In my opinion a GREAT job. |

I like your composition for this photo with the rocks in the foreground leading my eye up to the formation at the top. I also appreciate the symmetric positioning that you used. For me the foliage in between the rocks presents well and I like the way you bring out the lichen on the rocks.
For my taste I would like to see a higher level of contrast and color saturation. |

I think this is a interesting shot with a nice story, as I see them staring out at me it gives me an uneasy feeling. You captured the mood well. In my opinion the pano presentation helps to set the mood and I like the way you used the deep colors of the cows and contrasting them with the green in the back ground. I think there could be a little more exposure on the cows, especially the one on the right edge of the photo. Good photo and I like your creativity. |

I've been there when the Monarchs have been wintering and I think you have done a great job in capturing what it is like. Because the group in massive clumps like this it is difficult to have individuals highlighted and therefore I appreciate how you have a few of the Monarchs in the center of the frame with their wings extended so we can see their full color. I think the subdued foliage of the trees create a good background and help to highlight the butterflies. For me your focus is spot on as all the detail in the clump is well defined. I also think you've done a great job with the lighting. |
