I like the color and texture of the rocks along with the contrast you have with the blue sky.
For me I don't see a reference point that would give us a perspective of what we are looking at, thus I'm unable to discern any story that goes with the shot (it seems to lack a WoW factor that would draw my eye into the image. |

I like this photo and I think the high key coloring in the clouds is a primary draw for my interest. The boat in the harbor, but set off by itself, in my opinion creates a nice scene.
I'm not sure that the high key part of the clouds pairs well with the low key part of the boat and harbor. I'm also distracted a bit by the mooring lines, especially on the left, as they pull my eye away from the boat as they go out of the frame and I think the mast, because the top is cropped also pulls my eye out to the frame. |

Mark, I admire the way you find a way to make your photos very dramatic and this is a good example. I like the composition with the water coming in from the top and the left in a way that directs my eye into the center of the falls where "the action" is. I agree with the others regarding your choice for B&W. For me the inclusion of the hills and sky in the background provide a good perspective of the waterfall. I also like your choice of shutter speed in that it's not that fast so you get some combining of the water effect while not so slow that it all looks creamy. I like it, primarily for the action it conveys |

Another one of your great Alaska shots. I like the composition with the layering by having the meadow and pond, then the line of trees, the mountains and finally the clouds in the sky. Catching the reflections in the pond works well for me. To my eye the focus is a bit soft, but I think that is a positive for this image. I like the end results as they are but, like the others I wonder if cropping a little more from the top and bottom might make the mountains a bit more dominate.
I think the rock in the center of the meadow is a bit distracting. |

I'd like to think I'm improving on my B&W and then I see a shot like this - and WOW do I have a long long way to go. I think the texture of the dunes in the foreground it great and I like the way the lines lead my eye back into the photo. Then you have the light and shadows of the dunes in the center and it is all capped by the mountains in the back which, for me, makes this a great composition. I like the way you have high contrast and how it makes the image stand out. You have significantly raised the mark for my B&W. |

First, an apology to Jeffrey. I loaded the "original" without thinking that it was a different photo. I'm sorry.
What I like most regarding this photo is the layering with the wild flowers, the lane, the field with the sparse trees, the flat top mountains and finally the sky. I think you have them all combining together very well. For me the colors work well together and in my opinion your depth of field is great. I like this a a nice relaxing landscape as I think of my self taking a hike along the road going through the photo. Great job. |
