There are several things I like about this photo. First is the contrasting colors of the browns in the dunes against the blues of the sky. The sharp focus throughout the frame is a plus for me and I think the lighting is good with the use of shadows in the way, for me, that they create a sense of dimension. I appreciate undulating nature of the dunes along with the grasses as I think they add texture to the image (and remind me of the dunes close to my house). I also like the way the thin line of ocean separates the sky from the dunes.
I'm not sure about having the person in the bottom of the photo and in my opinion taking her out might benefit by providing more of a "nature only" scene. |

Overall I think this is a well composed photo and I like the impression you have created with the lighting and muted colors. For me you have captured the stark ruggedness and beauty of a high mountain zone (having been a mountain climber in my younger days I appreciate the challenges of that environment). The cropping is very effective, in my opinion, as you keep the lake in to add interest while eliminating the negative space below it which I don't think adds any thing.
While I like the photo I don't see anything in it that pops out to create a "wow" moment. |

I consider this photo very captivating. I like the composition with the mushroom to the left allowing you to have more background to the right, which for me provides more emphasis on the mushroom. I think the subdued browns in the background also help to accentuate the white of the mushroom. I think your use of the macro focus was successful. |

For me this photo is a perfect example of the effective use of symmetry in photography. I like your composition with the yucca centered and then having the base on the lower line for the "rule of thirds" and having an equal amount of sky on the top with the sand on the bottom. I also think that having a single item of interest with lots of well used open space is a strong positive for the photo. |

What I like most about this photo is the composition with the headstone of the unknown soldier in the foreground "kind-a" by itself and having the other stones providing a background which, in my opinion, adds to the story. I think the focus allows us to see the detail on the unknown headstone while the depth of field is not as sharp on the others, which for me keeps my attention of the unknown. I think the lighting adds to the mood of the image.
The only distraction for me is the small patch of blue sky in the upper left corner. |
