I agree with Paul that this could be used as a sky photo that you should keep, not only because its a great photo, but to use in future photos. I like the composition in that it is all about the sky and clouds while you keep just enough of the water at the bottom to provide a sense of perspective. The way you have the light coming in from the side, illuminating the edges of the clouds and then diminishing as my eye moves to the right really works for me. The color being shown in the clouds works well for me and I like that you have kept the image a bit on the darker side. Great job, in my opinion. |

What catches my eye most is the sparseness of the tree branches against the sky. I like the way the soft colors in the sky work with the green of the foliage and gray bark of the tree. I consider the composition pleasing with the majority of the foliage in the lower right corner with the trunk of the tree moving my eye up into the frame, thus also moving my up to see the terns.
In my opinion I would like to see a sharper focus overall. |

In my opinion this photo demonstrates how simplicity can project beauty! I like how you have used strong contrasting colors as well as contrasting textures with the smoothness in the sky and the rippled effect of the ocean. Then I think that the little peep of the sun creates an interest point for bringing my eye to the center of the photo. I like this photo and I agree with Neil as to how, I think, it makes a great abstract. |

I like the way you have used the light to create a "mood" as for me its softness indicates the end of the day. In my opinion the composition works well with the sky taking up the top two thirds of the frame and then having the bridge projecting up into that. I think the line patterns created by the bridge members generate interest and I like the way the bridge deck moves us from the near left into the distance of the right side.
I would like to see a bit more light in the bottom of the frame so that I could see a little more detail |

Dawn, this is the kind of shot I expect to see in something like National Geographic. I think you should enter it in a competition somewhere as I believe it would be a prize winner. For me the symmetry of your composition accentuates the scene in a positive way. The intensity of the warm colors work well for me and I like the amount of sky, with the clouds that you have included. I believe that the rainbows are a nice addition that helps draw my eye back into the image. Your efforts at a sharp focus and good dept of field, in my opinion, paid off well. Great Job. |

I like this photo Kelly, I think it's a nice bit of nostalgia. I agree with Neil regarding the use of B&W with the early morning fog because for me it creates a bit of suspense. I appreciate that you've used more of a soft lighting effect and a lower level of contrast. I think the focus and depth of field is good, with lots of detail in the sign but the rest of the image fades back into the fog.
I wonder if you might have a more dominate effect of the sign if you were to crop in from the sides to remove those trees on the edges. |
