I always try to first consider the "artistic" impact that a photo has on be before I consider any of the technical points, and for me this image has a very good "artistic" impact. I see the concerns you have raised in your last comment about the composition, and I agree, however in my opinion the "artistic" aspect of the photo significantly overcome those technical concerns. I like the way the rocks and moss in the foreground are in sharp focus and frame the waterfall and the mist it creates. I has me imagining that I am looking past a portal into some kind of unknown and my eye is drawn into the scene. Great job in creating a high level of interest! |

I think this is a good shot and I like the way the white of the Ibis stands out against all the green in the image. In my opinion your positioning of the Ibis horizontally is good however I agree with Dawn in that I think, as the bird is looking to the left it would have been better to crop from the right but I don't think you needed to crop from the left. For me the foreground and the Ibis are in good focus with the background blurred, which is a positive for me. I also like that you have him positioned on the edge of a pond.
In my opinion the green is a bit over saturated. I think it's just part of taking bird shots and I don't know how to avoid it but I find the blade of grass coming up in the middle of the body a bit distracting. Overall I like the photo. |

Dawn, I think the crop you did REALLY improves my photo. Now I'll have to include your name as one of the creators of the image. |

Dawn, in regards to my "Comfort Zone" my education and training professional activities are that as a mathematician and business analyst where everything has to be precise and well defined with the emphasis on realistic functionality. When we move into more artistic presentations with things open to individual opinion and soft merging of elements it just doesn't feel "natural" to me. That is why I'm comfortable with realistic landscape photography with well defined lines and good contrast while more artistic elements present a challenge for me to appreciate. However I am working on it to expand my "comfort zone" |

For me this photo generates a serene and peaceful mood, which I like. I like the way your image has some sharpness in the foreground and then fades back into soft focus and sort of disappears into the clouds. The cooler colors with the blue contrasted with the white work well for me. While I would consider this photo "out of my comfort zone" I really like it. |

I like the "layering" of this photo with the significant amount of water in the foreground, then the dense grouping of the boats in the middle followed by the mountains and sky in the background. I also like that you have the open waterway going up the center of the image as it helps draw my eye into the photo. The use of diagonal lines of the docks, lines of boats and the angle of the open water also works well. Nice shot |

Just an aside, but my first though was "how did I miss this!". I have many times driven right by this when I go from my home in Oregon to my son's home in Reno and have seen the sign for the park. However we've never thought of pulling off the highway, we just keep on driving to get to where we are going. I think it's a great shot, and next time we will stop.
When taking waterfall shots I usually like the "stop action" with a fast shutter speed, but I like what you've done here (and I will try a slower shutter speed for my next waterfall shots). Composition wise I like the way you have framed the falls and have include all of the pond in front of it, along with a portion of the foliage in the foreground. I think the higher falls are positioned nicely as they attract my eye and then pull it down into the rest of the image. I think the splash of color, in my opinion, is a big plus for the photo. Great shot

I think this is a very good "street" photography photo as I like the way you have captured the group which makes me wonder "what are they talking about?". To me it shows what life in the village is like. The composition looks good to me with the man on the balcony looking down on the group, which helps move my eye to them. I like the way the light and shade parts of the photo work together and I think the warm colors help add to the "feel' of the scene.
I do think cropping down from the top a bit would remove some of the empty space above the man on the balcony and make the group stand out a bit more. |

Dawn, I like your suggestion on cropping from the top and I agree about the orange traffic barriers being a bit too saturated. However I do like the brightness of the red cycle in the foreground. Looks like I need to work on developing masks so I can do my post processing on specific areas only. |
