Your photo holds good interest for me with the mountain scene that it presents. I like the composition with the three vertical bands with the grassy foreground, buildings and mountains in the center and then the clouds and the sky. For me the colors work well together with the browns in the foreground and the blues in background and it all set against the white of the snow and clouds. The focus and depth of field look sharp to me and allows my appreciation of the detail in the scene. I agree with you on the cropping as I think having more of the grass in the foreground helps provide more balance to the overall image. |

For me this photo has a nice relaxing impact. I like the composition with the dock leading me from the bottom of the frame out onto the lake, with the bench just waiting for me to come and sit for a while. I think the low key lighting with the heavy clouds and the slightly darkened effect allong with the glass smooth water adds to, what is for me, a contemplative mood. |

Mark, I really like the artistic impact of this photo. I also appreciate your inclusion of the three "work" photos and your discussion of the process you have gone through. I see Paul's point about your orig. 3 and the greater presence of the orange tint, however for my taste I prefer your final image with the strong blue tones; for me it adds more of a sense of a cool night. I like the composition with the sky full of stars, the light of the road on the left leading my eye up to the sky and the strength of the rock ledge in the lower right corner. I believe that the dark of the forested hill side in the center helps to set everything off. |

Mark, I see what you mean about the photo "slipping to the left" and I like your changes. I tend to be more of a "realist" with my photos and my camera was level, with that much of a slope with the sand. I took the picture at the north end of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (only about a mile from my house) where the dunes do have a pronounced slope down to the beach/tide area. Thanks to your comment in the future I'll think more about how it looks as opposed to how true to the actual scene it is. Thanks for the feedback |

I like this photo as a study in texture and form. The folds and cracks in the rocks make it interesting for me, along with the "stairs" leading back into the photo. I think the focus and lighting is good in that I can see nice detail throughout the image. I agree with Michael in that you might have not wanted to cut the top off of the rock in the center or, perhaps do a tight cropping to just focus on the staircase. If you were to crop to focus on the stairs I would try to increase the brightness as you would only be including the darkened areas. |
