I appreciate your cropping of the image, I like it better than my original. When I posted it I had wanted to include the full length of the split pieces of wood but now I see how much better it looks with the tight crop. Why I like this group, I learn a lot from everyone! |

I think the composition for this photo works well with the lone tree set to the right and then complimented with the horizontal layers of the flowers, sunlit grassy area, trees in the background and then the sky and clouds. The presentation of the "wispy" clouds in the sky help me perceive this as a relaxing scene. I also think the color of the flowers in the foreground contribute a more peaceful element to the scene.
I do think the exposure of the sunlit area of grass is a bit overexposed. |

First, a little acknowledgement to Darcy, she's the only one this round that didn't have a single tree as the primary interest point of her photo.
I like what is done whit this photo and, for me, presenting it in B&W creates a higher level of interest. The high contrast of the white of the tepees against the darker tone of the rest of the image helps me see them as the primary interest point. I think the lighting is good as I see detail in both the light and dark areas. I like the composition as the tepees are in the lower part of the frame and the tops of the trees are still in the frame. I like it. |

Timing is everything, and I see this photo as being a GREAT capture. I think you have done an excellent job with the silhouette while still having some light on the foreground so we can see some of the details. I like the colors of the sky and how the tones work to accentuate the sun. The symmetrical composition works well for me.
I do agree with the others on the potential of cropping some from the bottom. |

I like the effect you have captured with the slow shutter speed on the water rushing past the sticks sticking up in the surf. I think it really creates a nice contrast with the lone tree sticking up which for me creates two very different points of interest, and I like that. The way the lighting comes in from the side, in my opinion, enhances the overall mood of the photo. I also think your focus and depth of field is spot on. Great Job |

I, for one, like the way you have intensified the colors and brought out more of the red/brown and have taken advantage of the early morning light. I do think there exposure could be raised a bit so a little more of the detail in the tree trunk could come through. For me your symmetrical composition with the tree centered works well and I appreciate the good focus and depth of field.
I agree with Dan and Larry in that I believe if you got lower so the tree would stand up above the horizon it would have more of an impact. Still, I think it is a good shot. |

I like how you have used the filter to modify the photo. I think it adds color and vibrancy to the image and, in my opinion, makes it more exciting than the original. I think the use of contrasting colors works very well and for me helps the "lion" stand out as a primary item of interest. I see the filter as having added a lot of texture, which I also like. Nice job. |

Not a lightning storm, blown over by the wind. Because we have a wet climate the soil doesn't hold the trees as well.
I had to use the high ISO because our wet forests here have a lot of canopy and getting enough light on the forest floor is always a problem. |
