I love the color saturation on this photo. I agree with Mark about the trees in the foreground and the shadows they cast. I like the way you've composed the image with the hoodoos filling the frame and the ones in the background in the shade, which helps my eye stay on the ones in the foreground. I perceive the focus and depth of field being spot on.
Great job Michael. |

This photo creates a sense of serenity for me. I think it is well composed with the positioning of the truck and the barn on the right. I think the muted colors work well together in creating, which for me, is an effective low-key image. The clouds with the light reflecting on them helps add interest to the image. I also like the way you have used negative space in the foreground which I believe helps to highlight the truck. Nice Job.
P.S. Your timing of this photo for April is interesting as the April issue of our PSA Journal has an article on old trucks and stuff (p 24 - 31). |

For me the thin layer of fog resting on the water is a key component of this photo and I like the way it separates the line of trees from their reflection. Over all I think the composition is very good with the rocks in the foreground, the water with the reflection in the center and the trees and sky as the background. The way the colors complement each other works well for me and I like that you show good detail through out. I think your exposure bracketing has been done very well. |

I appreciate what you are trying to do, and having tried that a few times myself I know it is not that easy. I think the upper half with the clouds comes off OK but I'm having difficulty seeing what the bottom portion adds. I do think the cropping done by Mark does help as it brings more attention to the clouds. It's just me, but I like the lighting and contrast in the clouds more in your original. |

I think this is a great artistic shot and what a fantastic way of creating a totally different look at what is a very common tourist photo scene. I really like the composition with the tower centered with the dark background and lights in the lower part of the frame providing emphasis. I would consider this a prize winning photo. |

Mark, I just wanted to say that I really don't mind the "fiddling" you do with the images. Actually I like it and hope you continue. I tend to minimize the post processing I do (perhaps because I don't think I quite know what I'm doing) so I appreciate the ideas which you present for me to think about. Your ideas do encourage me, and some day I might get more confidence to try some of those things myself.
Thanks |

This photo really captures my interest. I like the use of a slow shutter speed with the effect it has on the arcs of water and the smoothness of the water coming off the fountain. I am also impressed with the way you have used the city lighting lighting for a dusk picture. I think the focus and depth of field are very good.
As I think the fountain is the primary item of interest I would have liked to see it moved in more toward what would be the left line on the "rule of thirds". I'm also a bit distracted by the light line created by the cars, as they seem to be drawing my eye away from the fountain instead of toward it. Still, I do like this photo. |
