The two aspects of this photo that positively impress me the most are the intensity in the eyes of the tiger and the depth of color and contrast with the yellow/orange paired with the black spots of the tiger. I like the composition with the horizontal/vertical squares formed by the cage and the positioning such that the eyes are accentuated by being enclosed in two of the central squares. For me, the lighting is good in that it is intense enough to increase the strength of the image while not being over exposed. Finally, I really like the effect of the Topaz filtering with the "glass block" effect creating a surreal aspect. I like it! |

What I like best about this photo is the composition with the clarinet placed diagonally across the frame, with the circular valves positioned to be the primary interest point in between the straight lines of the levers and rods which create an edge. I appreciate the texture provided by the black fabric in the lower left corner along with the black space for the upper right corner. For me the focus is good, showing the detail of the clarinet and the colors provided by the patina of the "old" clarinet allow me to appreciate this a a "family heirloom". I think the lighting is great, but never having tried light painting I'm not in a position to evaluate it fully, I just like it. |

I like the way you have used B&W to bring out the detail in the rock which, for me, makes this a very interesting photo. I think the lighting is good in that it allows for the tonal gradations in the face to come through, creating effective shadowing without over exposure. From a compositional perspective I believe the image is enhanced with the diagonal line of the scree slope moving my eye from left to right and then having the right side of the rock silhouetted against the sky.
I agree that the sky needed to be darkened to bring our a little detail and that the snow field on the upper left of Half Dome and mountain behind it were a bit over exposed, however I think you corrected that nicely in you follow-up photo. On the right part of Half Dome, about half way up in your image, there is a small spot where the sun just catches the rock and for my eye the resulting over exposure is distracting. |

You're dating yourself Paul, Most people wouldn't even know that there was a musical movie in which Clint Eastwood had the leading role. |

I like the relaxed impression your photo creates with the stream trickling down the fall forest floor. The cropping up from the bottom is, in my opinion, a good choice as it helps me keep focus on the central section of the stream. I think the lighting is good with the log and leaves showing nicely while not being overexposed. Having the water flow smoothed by the slow shutter speed is for me another positive aspect contributing to the peaceful impression.
For my taste I might have wanted a bit more depth of field that could be achieved with a higher f stop. I do believe that the dark section of the bank on the left side of the image could benefit from a bit more exposure to bring out more detail. |

For me the mist flowing in across the tree tops is what makes this an interesting photo. I like the softness of the scene with the interspersion of the greens with the fall colors of the trees in the fog. I think that having the trees on the ridge at the bottom of the frame out of the fog accentuates the effect of the fog on the rest of the image. In comparing it to the original I believe the cropping is well done and enhances the photo |
