I like this picture and I think you've done a good job in creating the pano. I like the composition as I see it being a symmetric image with good balance. I appreciate the line of trees as a point of interest along with their reflections in the water. The focus looks sharp to me with good depth of field and I don't perceive differences which makes me think that your stitching process worked well. The lighting looks good to me as the overcast day softens the scene (and from my experience it makes pano's easier - I've tried pano's on a partly cloudy day only to have the sun behind a cloud for one shot, and then out from the cloud for the next shot). |

Another great B&W Shot Paul, I've got to try one of these myself some time. I like range of tonal gradations and I think they work well together. The focus looks good to me from front to back, I think the lighting is good through out and I also think there is good contrast.
For me I believe that the tree should be moved more to the right with the barn and the fence becoming more of the center and primary interest point of the photo. |

Steven, thanks for your comments. you raise good points. I did try to get a higher view point so bring the driftwood at or below the surf line or eliminate the sky line however I didn't like that as much because it minimized the effect of the shadow area in the center. I did find a different piece of driftwood on that same hike were I was able to accomplish what you suggest and it turned out OK. I appreciate your suggestion as it make me think more critically about what I'm doing. |

The composition of this photo look good to me in that I like the inclusion of the ridge line in the foreground to provide a frame of reference and I like the "cloudly" section of the Milky Way positioned symmetrically in the photo. For me the bright star to the left helps to provide a point of interest and draws my eye into the the center.
I wonder if the sky could be a bit darker and if it would make the stars show a bit brighter.
I've never tried to photograph the Milky Way but this looks good to me and I may have to try it. |

I see a lot to like in this photo. I like the composition with the rocks in the foreground; reflection on the water; the band of the shore with the mountains in the background; and topped by the sky and clouds. I am impressed with the positioning of the mountains symmetricly on either side of the center line combined with the peaks of the rocks in the foreground placed on the center line. The focus is, in my opinion, is spot on and the depth of field over the entire image appeals to me. I also like the way the colors work together and create a mood to compliment the image. Great Photo |

You make a good point Jean, however part of my positioning was to keep my footprints out of the image. I will take your comment with a grain of sand. :) |

What catches my attention most in this image is the sharp contrast of the rich colors with the snow. I like the way the diagonal line of the water's edge separates the photo providing a nice break from the muted colors of water to the intense colors of the shore line and trees. For me the reflections in the water are a positive addition to the image. I think the white of the snow highlights these colors and then provides, which for me, is a good transition to the greens and blues of the background. In my opinion the focus and depth of field is very well done. and I like the overall composition and positioning of the elements of the photo.
I think portions of the snow are a bit overexposed and at the same time I believe that the hillside in the background could be just a little bit darker.
I think it is a great image and I wish I could do that well on a consistent basis. |

I appreciate the whimsy of this photo and it has a positive impression on me. I think the colors work well together and are set off nicely against the gray background. I like the composition in that the curved lines of the shark take my eye right to the ice cream cone and, to my mind makes me think "is he really going to take a bite of the ice cream.
I do think a bit of cropping from the top might improve the impact of the photo by eliminating some negative space that doesn't seem to be adding to the image.
Nice light hearted shot. |
