The roof is of a large metal storage shed. Glad you like the clouds. |

As the image is from my backyard, relocating still puts me in town with other buildings and I was not up to driving anywhere at that time. I appreciate your comments though. |

Another excellent still life Ella. Exposure is excellent and reveals the texture of the fur even in the shadows adjacent to the dark background. This will make an excellent print. |

Interesting image Ed. I agree with Ella about the shutter speed. The stark contrast between the very sharply focused background and the motion blur of the water in the foreground is very distracting to me. Exposure is perfect and reveals the texture in the foliage and rocks. |

Very well done Ian. Well composed and exposure is excellent. The only thing I could suggest cannot be fixed in post processing and that is the location of the microphone. Why singers have to almost eat the mic is beyond me. |

Well done John. The only improvement that I can suggest would be to darken the sky a bit to balance the tonality with the lower left corner. |

Interesting final result and well done Mark. The cropping is a bit too tight for my personal taste. It does focus in on the inversion but, to me, it brings in visual distractions in the foreground (truck pulling trailer on the right and telephone pole with red barn on the left). It will be interesting to consider what others in the group think of your modifications. |

The large file is due to the image being a full frame image from my Nikon D810 that has not been cropped (produces a 208 Mb tiff file for editing). I first reduce the image to an 8 bit image then resize down to 4"x6" or smaller prior to converting to *.jpg. I sometimes must reduce the dpi down to 300 to fit the file under the 1Mb size limit. I would like to see your results in B&W. The *.jpg I submitted should display at approximately 4.5" x 7" at 360 dpi. It can be reduced down after editing to 3.5" x 5" at 300 dpi or even 240 dpi without much visible degradation. |

Interesting composition Ed. It takes a while but I like it.
I pushed the contrast a lot more followed by an unsharp mask in Photoshop. Would anyone consider this an improvement or is it too much too far? |

Well done Paul! I admire your ability to capture detail in the reflections of the trees and the cloud. Only fix I see would be to level the horizon line. To me it dips down on the right. |

Excellent processing of the composite image Mark. I don't mind the horizon glow due to light pollution but the blue color cast to the terrain is overdone for my taste. I personally would prefer a more analogous color to the light pollution versus the complementary color scheme you chose. Either way, well done. |

Nice observation of a specific locale Darcy. The only suggestions that I can give would be to either back up a step or two to include the top of the central spire (a little bit of sky across the top) or to crop down to emphasize the staircase aspect of the rocks. Regardless it is a very good photo.

Thank you Paul, I appreciate it. I did not crop the foreground as doing so made it seem unbalanced to me. To my eyes, the large thistle plants in the bottom right corner prevent the eye front going off the image and are a necessary component of the image. Per your suggestion, I tried converting to B&W but it was lacking something. Maybe you or someone else can make it work. The steam (not smoke) is emanating from a cow hide rendering plant cooling tower. |
