78 Apr 26 Reply Thanks for your comments! I took Rad Drew's iPhone IR online course, but he didn't cover the specific questions you mentioned. The iPhone offers limited control, mainly allowing you to select RAW mode, enable night mode, and adjust the exposure. I've found the exposure setting to be the most challenging when using the IR filter. I usually shoot the same image with varying exposure settings, ranging from 0 to the lowest, around -3 or -2, on the iPhone. For post-processing, I typically start with LR Mobile for initial processing directly on my iPhone, and then use PS and/or NIK for the final touches on my computer. Apr 15th
78 Apr 26 Reply Thanks for your comments!! Not sure if you remember Brenda emailed our group on IR with iPhone last year. Thanks to her, she got me kind of hooked on this new genre. Apr 15th
78 Apr 26 Reply I applied denoise on the original raw file and tried reducing the paper grain effect in NIK but didn't see much difference. Personally, I kind of like the grain effect with sepia tone. I think my original image was not sharp enough since I took the shot handheld. Maybe with a tripod will make the image sharper and less noisy. Apr 15th
78 Apr 26 Reply Thanks for your thoughts! I'll try to clean up the noise. It's really just a matter of personal preference, and I'm not focused on competition or adhering to specific rules for any particular style. Apr 9th
78 Apr 26 Reply I am still exploring What, When, and How to best use IR. This one is my earlier experiment taken at the same local park. It was taken on a beautiful sunny day with beautiful clouds at noon. Apr 8th

78 Apr 26 Reply Thanks for your comment! NIK offers a few preset options with a grain effect. I'm okay with the noise/grain because I'm aiming for a more 'fine art' look, which is why I went with sepia. If I were to present it as black and white, I'd definitely clear up the noise. Apr 8th
78 Apr 26 Comment I had no experience in staying late at night in the cold to capture anything in the sky. The only comment I have is that this is a very beautiful night photography, and you had good post-processing. Apr 6th
78 Apr 26 Comment It's such a lovely winter scene! I was thinking, maybe you could try capturing it from a different angle-perhaps with just one tree or a few trees in an odd number? I'm not really a fan of symmetry, you know? I did spot a tree trunk falling on the right, which does break up the symmetry a bit, but it still feels a bit too balanced to me. Apr 6th
78 Apr 26 Comment I agree with Sunil as well! This bird is beautiful, and your capture is great. To really make the bird stand out, you might want to do a bit of post-processing. Apr 6th
78 Apr 26 Reply I had the same idea! I'm seeing this as an architecture photo, and it's a great capture because it really highlights all the lines, patterns, planes, and shades. In black and white, the viewer's eye is naturally drawn to how these elements come together so beautifully, which is more impactful than the color version, which might take away from the overall design. I'm also considering removing the person in your photo, as I don't think he adds any value to the overall image. Apr 6th
78 Apr 26 Comment The light trails are beautifully captured, and the post-processing is great! However, I think the white light trails could have been a bit more vibrant-I'd like them to be closer to the original. Apr 6th
78 Apr 26 Comment Wow, great capture of this beauty, and the post-processing is so nice! I noticed the black spots too, as Sunil Mehta pointed out. Do you have any other side shots of this bird that highlight the interesting beak even more? Apr 6th
