Michael, This is a nice image. To my eye, I found that the egret (white bird) is not quite in focus and as such I found it to be a distraction from the terrific image of the heron. I'm not sure how many images you captured, but I might have changed my vantage to focus (sorry for the pun) solely on the heron. Of course, it's all very subjective and personal. |

Paul, I really like this image. A great example of image making vs photography. I'd put this in the realm of 'still life' and I think that you did a great job of conveying the mood. Well done! |

Thanks very much Paul. I find it challenging (in a good way..) to present images to DD93 that are acceptable. And I appreciate the positive responses. |

Thanks for sharing your information regarding the capture and PP. I had taught about getting up early that day to shoot my own images of the annular eclipse, but sadly I was not able to do so. Your image is almost as good as being there.... Well done. |

Thanks Mark, I do sometimes use selective cropping - but in this case I chose not to. My reasoning is that I wanted to retain the context of the image. As for 'competing for attention' I did not want the 'face' to be that obvious to the viewer. I thought it would be more interesting to discover it just as I had. But, as always, photography is an art and as art, it remains the purview of the observer to find their individual involvement with the image. |
