Mark, this is a terrific final image. While I am not a fan over post-processing, I am reminded of a comment that I heard during a lecture "My final product represents what I remember seeing". No camera can capture the dynamic range of the human eye/brain so it's the talent of the image maker to recreate the scene that was seen. For that reason I also do not object to removing minor distractions from a final image since our human processing capabilities have a tendency to ignore those elements but the camera has no ability to differentiate. How many times have we looked at the captured image only to see something that we didn't know was there... |

Hi Michael, very intuitive. That's exactly what I did. I did not have a tripod or other support that evening so after I set my exposure, I put the camera down on the top of a stone wall, raised the lens up with my wallet and gave the lens a small twist while the shutter was open.

Jeff, I like this one. The composition is OK and the exposure time is good. I'm not sure, but I feel like the image is a bit cramped and may have benefitted from taking a few steps back. Alternatively, a couple of steps forward to eliminate what I see as distractions on the left and right. That would frame the light trails with the arcs. I have (taken the liberty of) cropping the image to illustrate my vision for the image. |
