93 Nov 20 Reply Thanks Darcy. It was a great trip but I don't think we'll be back. If the pandemic ever ends there are many more places that I want to see. Nov 12th
93 Nov 20 Reply Thanks. I learned quite a lot on that trip. We hired Dave to take us to the most photogenic locations. We went out in the early morning, after lunch and evening to shoot and then back at the lodge we processed our images in LR. Dave was a terrific LR instructor and very helpful in getting the most out of our captures. Nov 12th
93 Nov 20 Reply Thanks for the link. Most interesting! Nov 11th
93 Nov 20 Reply Thanks Jean, You have very high standards and I am haunted by your earlier comment about the 'wow factor'. I am not familiar with the woodcut style that you referred to but I will definitely look it up. Nov 10th
93 Nov 20 Reply And THAT is what art is all about!! You're the image maker so YOU get to decide what it looks like! Nov 10th
93 Nov 20 Comment Ed, I wasn't sure about the image when I first saw it. Now that I've had some time to consider it, I agree with Jeff concerning the chaotic nature of the bleached driftwood, however from a 'statement' point of view, the chaos works. This an environmental image. There is a randomness and disorder to the driftwood, and erosion on the banks of the stream. I see this image as a comment on the erosion of civility and moral values, the destruction of our environment and a wake up call for the work ahead of us to leave something better for our grandchildren to inherit. If I was doing a photo essay, this image (as seen by me - attached) would be in it. Nov 9th
93 Nov 20 Reply Thanks Ed, I'm glad that you noticed the trees in the immediate foreground. It was tempting to crop out, but I wanted them to anchor image without making them a central element. Nov 9th
93 Nov 20 Reply Thanks Jeff,
I had not noticed the noise. Interestingly, I have had this image printed for sale on metallic paper bonded to acrylic and the final product had no visible noise. I ran the image through Noiseless CK so if I sell it again, I'll use the later version. I did not crop the sky originally (and not now neither) because I like the 'big sky'. My intent was to illustrate that the large mountains are small vis-a-vis the universe. Maybe we should add a 'statement of intent' to the images we post each month.....?

93 Nov 20 Comment Jeff, This is a terrific image. Well exposed and composed. My only comment is that I'd like to see a bit more definition in the background mountain range. I made some adjustments in LrC to determine if it was possible, using dehaze and clarity with a grad filter. Out of respect for creative integrity, I'm not going to post it, but you might want to try it yourself. Nov 3rd
